Personalisation
You can personalise your Tanner Bates Journal with a message, name or initials up to 10 characters long in a choice of pigments: gold, silver or matt black. The personalisation runs vertically alongside the elastic closure. The Journal arrives in a presentation box with the full and fascinating story of its provenance.
Provenance
This re-fillable Journal came about as a collaboration between two traditional skills Рthe leatherworker and the bookbinder. The leather binding is made entirely by hand using naturally tanned leather. 
This binding is far too good to be used only once so we make this special writing book refillable so you can use the binding again and again, the leather becoming more beautiful with time. The pages are sewn, not glued, which means they will lie flat wherever you open the book – a subtle luxury. They have a cloth spine on which you could write and file away for reference purposes. The paper comes in four different formats, and can be written on with a fountain pen without the ink bleeding through the paper. The paper is recycled and off white in colour. The raw material is well known for its quality in the printing trade and goes by the name of Woodland Wove.
Love your Leather
Our leather is ethically and sustainably processed. The tannery uses a mixture of tree barks to transform the animal hides to leather. This is an ancient tradition which yields the familiar leather smell. Natural oils evaporate over time and need replenishing. Your leather benefits from and will look its very best if given an occasional dose of natural waxes and oils. Our Leather care information card is included with every purchase.
